PRINCE RUPERT, B.C. -- The Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine has placed water restrictions on Thornhill and North Terrace due to increased demands created by the warmer weather.

The restrictions state that irrigation of lawns and domestic gardens is now only permitted once a week, between either 4-8 a.m. or 7-10 p.m. However, hand watering is permitted at any time.

The regional district is also asking residents to refrain from washing exterior surfaces such as buildines or vehicles with water, and to avoid filling swimming pools with water.

Yesterday, Terrace implemented a similar ban on lawn and garden sprinking to ensure the city's water system had enough water in place if the fire department needed to use it.
