The BC Energy Regulator recently issued an order to LNG Canada that’s related to instances of the company not complying with flaring rules.

Namely, BCER staff noticed black smoke appearing when it’s not supposed during inspections of the Kitimat Facility.

The order from the BCER requires LNG Canada to document all instances of black smoke that go for longer than 15 minutes and the reason for the smoke, submit a report to a qualified professional that lists the root cause of the smoke and ways that it can be prevented, implement those prevention measures and then report monthly to a professional on how effective those measures are.

More information about the order can be found at the BCER’s website.
