This past Friday, the BC Wildfire Service announced some changes about their fire bans in the Northwest Fire Centre.
The Service confirmed that Category 2 open fires are now allowed once again throughout the whole Northwest Fire Centre, although Category 3 fires remain banned and will stay that way until September 25th in all likelihood.
The given reasons for the Category 2 amendment are because of forecasted precipitation and below-seasonal temperatures.
Category 2 Fires are described as fires that are no bigger than 2 metres high and 3 metres wide.
