Evacuation Alert issued for Cedarvale due to wildfire

(BC Wildfire Service)

The Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine and Gitwangak Band came together to issue an evacuation alert yesterday for the community of Cedarvale.

The reason that the alert was issued is because of the Coyote Creek Wildfire, or Wildfire R41118, which is burning out of control about 23 km southwest of Kitwanga and 68 km northeast of Terrace and covers about 260 hectares.

An evacuation alert is meant to get people ready to leave their homes if a wildfire starts getting too close to a community.

Although, it was said that no one should leave until they are directly told to.
