The Northern Lights Wildlife Society is a wildlife rescue located in Smithers and it was suddenly hit with a great tragedy earlier this week.
4 bears that were living at the shelter died out of nowhere on Monday morning and a 5th one also passed away a couple days later on Wednesday after showing some signs of illness.
Necropsies of the bears said that they died of acute liver failure but it’s still not known why they suffered such a condition.
The bears that passed away were named Gimlet, Stout, Kokanee, Bacardi & Mimosa.
