The BC Ministry of Mining and Critical Minerals has announced that the pause on new mineral and placer registrations in Northwestern and North Central BC will remain in place until January 31st 2027.
That pause, which was originally set to expire yesterday has been extended in order to make sure that the Ministry has enough time to engage in more meaningful conversations with the likes of the Tahltan, Taku River Tlingit and Kaska First Nations.
Although all existing mineral and placer tenures are not affected by the pause or it’s extension.
