Prince Rupert Seafest held over the weekend

The City of Prince Rupert put on their City spanning annual Seafest event throughout this past weekend.

And on Saturday, the event put forth arguably it’s biggest attraction, it’s massive downtown parade that lasted for about a couple of hours.

Prince Rupert Mayor Herb Pond attended and he seemed more than pleased with the attendance and how the festivities were progressing;

“It never disappoints, especially on a day like today with a little cloud cover so we don’t get sunburnt. All of Prince Rupert shows up in the downtown core. People put a lot of energy into those floats. The dancers, the kickboxers, all of that stuff just makes for an incredible day here in Prince Rupert.

We were also able to talk to someone who participated in the parade itself, namely someone who got to show off her dance skills named Paula Loroff, and She told us how much she liked getting to do that;

“A couple of years ago, my friend asked me to join, she leads our dance group and they’ve been dancing in the Seafest Parade for a long long time. It’s so fun, everyone loves the dance group, I’ve heard so many people say it’s their favourite part of the parade so it feels good to be able to participate in something that people clearly love.”

Another major part of Seafest included the vast amount of local vendors that were available for people to visit and buy from, ranging from businesses based right there in Prince Rupert, to ones that came from as far away as Smithers.
