The Town of Smithers recently announced that their local fire department sent a Type 5 Wildland Engine to Cache Creek.
The reason that the engine was deployed there is so it could help the BC Wildfire Service with their efforts at the Big Bar Complex.
That particular truck and it’s three person support crew were used to protect structures whenever wildfires get near communities.
Smithers had similar equipment sent to Cedarvale as well before that, but it has since returned after rainfall helped reduce the Coyote Creek Wildfire.
