The Terrace Little Theatre has been running a particular play for quite some time and now, it’s next major showing is set to be it’s most important yet.
The play is a love story called Annapurna, which was initially written by Sharr White, and the show’s director, Marianne Weston, explained a bit of what happens during it;
“This is about two more or less ordinary people who haven’t seen each other in 20 years. They did not have an amicable parting. They have a lot of bad history behind them and they come together because the son that they had together wants to meet his father that he hasn’t seen in 20 years. So during that time, you’re going to see them uncover the incidents and the trauma that caused them to split up. But it’s done in the context of an ordinary couple fighting.”
The show’s main couple of Ulysses and Emma are said to engage in a long awaited confrontation about love, regret, and the fragile hope of forgiveness.
The next major showing of the play will take place on May 30th at 7 PM as everyone working on the play gets ready to perform it at a festival in the near future with other potential benefits on the line, as illustrated by Weston as well.
“We have to go to the Central Interior, all the way to Williams Lake and it will be adjudicated and if we’re chosen as the best play, then we will go to the Provincial Festival in July.”
The May 30th show is being referred to as a Zone Festival Benefit, which means that all proceeds from the show will go towards covering travel costs for their performance at the Central Interior Zone Festival in Williams Lake on June 6th.
The performers and director are asking local residents to come down and support their show and their festival trip by proxy, citing the emotional reactions from previous audience members as an incentive to give their production a shot.
Tickets to the show cost $25 and can be purchased at Misty River Books or at the door.
