The Town of Smithers sent out a statement saying that they’ve been getting more reports of bear sightings on the Perimeter Trail recently.
Most of those sightings are said to have specifically been around the Riverside Campground.
The Town also gave some advice on how to be aware of and stay safe from bears, such as travel in a group, make enough noise that bears can hear it, stick to marked trails, only bike or hike during the day and carry bear spray.
