TERRACE, B.C. -- Terrace RCMP is reminding residents to be aware of their surroundings after a local man was assaulted in his driveway last week.

Police say the man was leaving for work early last Thursday morning when he encountered a man on his property. The intruder became aggressive, assaulting the resident and then running inside the man's home when police arrived.

The suspect was eventually arrested and was held in the local jail cells until he sobered up. He was then released on strict conditions.

The Prosecution Service is now considering appropriate charges.

The homeowner was taken to hospital for medical treatment.

Police have not said where the incident occurred in Terrace. Anyone who may have information about the incident is asked to contact Terrace RCMP.
