TERRACE -- The RCMP have notified the independent investigations office about an ATV crash near Hart Farm on Sunday just after 6 pm that seriously injured two men and left a woman with potentially life-threatening injuries.
Police say officers tried to stop an ATV, which reportedly was carrying people not wearing helmets. The officers then turned on their emergency lights to stop the ATV, but the vehicle went around police and continued down the road.
An ATV collision with a tree was reported to Emergency Health Services just after 6:15 pm, and police attended to assist. The ATV is believed to be the same one police had attempted to stop a short time before.
They say alcohol and speed are believed to be factors in the crash. The IIO will investigate what role, if any, police actions or inaction may have played in the incident.
