TERRACE, B.C. -- Lightning is the suspected cause of a 250-hectare fire burning near Houston.

The Bulkley Lake Fire was reported yesterday by the BC Wildfire Service, and is one of three new fires in the Northwest Fire Centre region.

The other two are an 80-hectare blaze near Poplar Mountain southwest of Houston and a 300-hectare fire at Chief Louis Lake north of Tweedsmuir Park.

The Fire Danger Rating is High-to-Extreme across the entire region.
